Welcome To Development Soccer - "under construction"
The information on this page to be updated for the 2021 season, we hope to have an earlier start this season (2020 information below for information purposes).
It's time to play!
soccer has granted our club permission to begin a modified season. The
WCSC is here to provide our Talons players with the following options
that will be broken up into two phases.
with your teammates, while keeping a physical distance of 2m between
players. Coaches will be wearing a mask and will disinfect all
equipment prior to use. We will be limited to having 9 players and 1
coach per field. We have multiple fields available to provide space for
all players to practice. No heading or touching the soccer balls with
your hands would be permitted in this phase, with the exception of the
goaltenders. (Keepers have to wear clean, disinfected keeper gloves)
current Covid-19 trend in the Ottawa area continues to decline, we are
confident that phase 2 of return to play soccer will begin. This would
allow us to have inner club or squad 7v7 games. During this phase, most
restrictions would be lifted. Hand cleaning and physical distancing
would still be encouraged as much as possible.

limit how many spectators we have. All spectators and players must log
in and out with the team coach. If possible, please only have one
guardian accompany each player. We also encourage not to car pool.
Guardians are asked to keep off the lined areas of the field. Spread
yourselves out along the side of the fields when watching. At no point
are spectators to touch the soccer balls or equipment.
No washroom facilities will be available.
We prefer players to not bring a bag but only bring a labeled water bottle.

West Carleton Soccer Club has a Youth Development Division known as the
West Carleton Talons. The Talons are a growing division of the club.
Teams for each season are formed through an assessment (U9-U12)/tryout (U13-U16) process in late
winter and/or early spring.
The rationale behind the development (formerly known as competitive) division is twofold. Firstly, those players who have already developed
strong footwork and ball skills and have traditionally dominated
during the games are now able to play at an elevated level. Secondly, by moving these
players out of the house league system, it allows house league players
who are still developing their skills more time with the ball, causing
them to gain more confidence and skills as well. The
aim is to
allow each child to develop at their own pace in the program currently
best suited to their needs.
Talons play in the East Region Soccer League (ERSL), which includes teams from
Clubs in the greater Ottawa Region. Each pool in which the Talons
compete will consist of a small subset of these clubs. Please note that
not every club enters teams at every age group.
For the 2020 season the Talons are fielding teams in the following age groups:
| U9 (2011)
| U10 (2010)
| U11 (2009)
| U12 (2008)
| U13 (2007)
| U16 (2004)
2020 Talons Youth Season Fees
| U9-U10 (Mini Field)
|U11-U12 (Mid Field)
| U13+ (Full Field)
This cost includes the full uniform. We aim to keep the cost as low as possible making our development/competitive soccer rate one of the most affordable in the league.
