Welcome To Development Soccer -  We are confident that soccer programs will run this summer, however, we will only offer the programs when the appropriate authorities deem it safe to do so (colour designation orange, yellow, green or better).  Program adjustments will be made in accordance with Covid-19 safety requirements throughout the summer.

Talons fees for 2021:  We have introduced an "installment" payment system for Talons this year.  The first payment, at time of registration will be $198 (recreation player rate), the remaining (final) fee will be payable July 31.

(2020 information below for information purposes, we hope to start the season earlier this year.)

Dear Talons,

It's time to play!

Ontario soccer has granted our club permission to begin a modified season.  The WCSC is here to provide our Talons players with the following options that will be broken up into two phases.

Phase 1-

Practice with your teammates, while keeping a physical distance of 2m between players.  Coaches will be wearing a mask and will disinfect all equipment prior to use.  We will be limited to having 9 players and 1 coach per field. We have multiple fields available to provide space for all players to practice.  No heading or touching the soccer balls with your hands would be permitted in this phase, with the exception of the goaltenders.  (Keepers have to wear clean, disinfected keeper gloves)

Phase 2-

If the current Covid-19 trend in the Ottawa area continues to decline, we are confident that phase 2 of return to play soccer will begin. This would allow us to have inner club or squad 7v7 games.  During this phase, most restrictions would be lifted.  Hand cleaning and physical distancing would still be encouraged as much as possible.

Our programs will run for 10 weeks starting the week of July 6th.  Please check to confirm your team’s night and time slot. TO BE POSTED NEXT WEEK (June 30th)

Fee $150, this will include a basic kit (Practice jersey and shorts).

Please show up 15 min prior to practice time, fully dressed including having cleats on.  There will be a drop off and pick up zone.  We are trying to limit how many spectators we have. All spectators and players must log in and out with the team coach.  If possible, please only have one guardian accompany each player.  We also encourage not to car pool.  Guardians are asked to keep off the lined areas of the field. Spread yourselves out along the side of the fields when watching.  At no point are spectators to touch the soccer balls or equipment.

No washroom facilities will be available.

We prefer players to not bring a bag but only bring a labeled water bottle.

All club related COVID-19 information can be found on our website and should be reviewed by all participants.

*If any of player or spectator gets infected with Covid-19, or comes in contact with someone who has been infected with Covid-19, please contact Club head coach Paul Bowie immediately. Please refrain from coming to the fields, self-quarantine and seek medical attention if required.

If you have any question regarding your team.  Please contact your head coach.

West Carleton Soccer Club

The West Carleton Soccer Club has a Youth Development Division known as the West Carleton Talons. The Talons are a growing division of the club. Teams for each season are formed through an assessment (U9-U12)/tryout (U13-U16) process in late winter and/or early spring.

The rationale behind the development (formerly known as competitive) division is twofold. Firstly, those players who have already developed strong footwork and ball skills and have traditionally dominated during the games are now able to play at an elevated level. Secondly, by moving these players out of the house league system, it allows house league players who are still developing their skills more time with the ball, causing them to gain more confidence and skills as well. The aim is to allow each child to develop at their own pace in the program currently best suited to their needs.

The Talons play in the East Region Soccer League (ERSL), which includes teams from Clubs in the greater Ottawa Region.  Each pool in which the Talons compete will consist of a small subset of these clubs. Please note that not every club enters teams at every age group.

For the 2020 season the Talons are fielding teams in the following age groups:

Boys Girls
 U9  (2011)
